The opportunity

We are seeking a qualified electrical technician who is passionate about their work and ready to provide technical and professional expertise. This is an exciting and rare opportunity to join Local Government and work within a team environment, where you will contribute to deliver successful outcomes for your community.

In this role you will:

Provide maintenance and repair of the electrical equipment and electronic instrumentation for Federation Council. The position will provide specialist electrical trade services, with the primary focus on the operation, maintenance, repair and upgrading of water supply and sewerage treatment, pumping, storage and reticulation electrical and scada/telemetry systems to provide drinking water and treated effluent that meets industry, electrical, health and environmental best practice standards and legislative requirements.

Criteria

  • Hold a current and valid Electrical Trade Certificate with previous experience in electrical installations maintenance.
  • Hold a current and valid class 'C' driver’s licence.
  • Possess the ability to understand and maintain the electrical systems involved in municipal water and sewerage treatment plants.
  • Intermediate user in a range of software packages such as Microsoft Office, Email systems, Internet searching and Records Management systems such as TRIM.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of WHS practices and ability to actively encourage and promote a safe working environment.
  • Demonstrated history of showing initiative in solving problems, improving methods and productivity and ability to seek guidance where required.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet the capability requirements of this position as defined in the capability statement.

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Council’s policies and conditions of employment.  The salary is commencing at $1,622.48 per week with progression up to $1,747.27 plus industry allowances, dependent upon skills and experience.
