Due to continued maturing of our Emergency Management function, we are excited for an experienced Emergency Resilience & Recovery Officer to join our highly skilled team and make a true and meaningful impact on our community.
About the Role
As an Emergency Resilience & Recovery Officer, you will be responsible for supporting the Coordinator Emergency Management Coordinator undertake the obligations in the State Emergency & Rescue Management Act, in the prevention, planning, response and recovery functions. This includes developing and implementing plans, strategies and projects that build community resilience for communities affected by disaster and help with response and recovery by addressing needs, both immediate and long-term. In addition, this role involves the development, implementation, and evaluation of emergency management focused education, awareness and support programs to the community and key stakeholders to support community response and recovery.
This role requires you to engage with local business, community groups and other organisations regarding emergency management initiatives to build capacity and skills for individuals, businesses and service providers within the LGA. You will also play a key role in actively seeking external funding and support for emergency management programs to build community resilience. As well, this role is responsible for providing administrative support during disaster response and recovery and to the Coordinator Emergency Management Coordinator in all facets of the emergency management process.
About You
You will hold relevant tertiary qualifications, or you will bring demonstrated knowledge and experience in a similar community development-based role.
You will have demonstrated knowledge of emergency management including disaster recovery principles, practices and standards. You will have demonstrated experience in capacity building and community development activities and developing coordinating and implementing community education programs and plans. You will also have demonstrated experience in project management including the management of grants. Your proven ability to work productively as a member of a team and contribute to team goals will be invaluable in this role.
Benefits
This is a permanent full-time role, working 35 hours per week with a base salary ranging from $95,236 to $105,712 per annum based on demonstrated competencies + 11.5% superannuation + private lease back vehicle.
