How you’ll make a difference
Victoria Daly Regional Council is looking for a part-time Employment & Development Officer based in Lajamanu, NT.
As the Employment and Development Officer you will assist with activities and support training for all CDP participants ensuring quality outcomes are achieved by the participants.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Work closely with the Employment & Development Supervisors with the supervision of participants and assisting participants in their activity.
- Build trusting relationships with colleagues and participants.
- Support and motivate participants to attend identified activities, training, and appointments.
- Work with all departments of the Victoria Daly Regional Council.
- Attend formal performance reviews and performance management meetings and participate in regular staff meetings.
- Attend job-related training as requested in accordance with individual training plans.
- Gain a working knowledge of Council policies and procedures.
- Assist with ideas for developing simple plans for participant activities.
- Write simple documents and complete forms as required.
- Attend staff meetings and give feedback on the progress of CDP activities.

As the Victoria Daly region has a large Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population, you will need to ensure cultural sensitivity and awareness across all activities.
What you’ll bring to the team
To qualify, candidates will need knowledge of the CDP Program, good communication and time management skills.
Additionally, you will join with the following skills and background:
- Ability to perform daily work tasks and comply with safe work policies and procedures.
- Ability to assist with simple work plans for job seeker activities and organise resources required to undertake activities.
- Work organisation skills are required to communicate with other team members to achieve overall goals.
- Good verbal communication skills to respond to enquiries and requests.
- Written communication skills to complete standard forms.
- Ability to develop good working relationships with participants and staff.
You will also require:
- Sound language literacy and numeracy (LLN) would be required.
- Criminal History Check (recent within 3 months)
- A current Working with Children’s Card.
- A current Driver’s License.
- A Current First Aid Certificate
- Must have a “My ID”
