About the Opportunity
Cessnock City Council has a unique opportunity for a qualified engineer to join our Development Services team as an Engineering Officer!
In this fast-paced role, you will be responsible for effectively assessing Section 138 applications associated with vehicle access crossings, road restoration, associated road infrastructure construction, stormwater drainage and utility connections. You will draw upon your engineering expertise alongside your knowledge of multiple pieces of legislation to provide technical input and advice to multiple stakeholders to ensure infrastructure and restorations meet both Council and community expectations.
To be successful in this position, you will need tertiary qualifications in civil engineering, construction management or other relevant qualifications, as well as demonstrated experience in the field of construction and maintenance of civil works, specifically roads and drainage related. Our Development Services team is processing a high volume of development applications every week, so we are looking for someone with a strong work ethic and that is driven to complete work efficiently and to a high quality. Your natural willingness to learn as well as proactively take action when you see the need for improvement will help us succeed together.

Remuneration
$79,228 - $91,738 per annum plus superannuation

The Engineering Officer is a permanent full-time role working 35 hours per week and is a blend of office and site-based work which will guarantee your days are varied and interesting. Council provides you with the ability to work in a way that suits you best, offering multiple flexible work arrangements including the option of a nine-day fortnight, compressed work week or a monthly RDO. A leaseback vehicle, with full private use, is also offered with this position.
