Description

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Education Officer who will work with the community, across Council and with all stakeholders to develop strategies and deliver environmental educational programs that promote behavioural change and positive environmental outcomes. This exciting permanent role is for an individual who is environmentally minded, solutions focused and enthusiastic about working with the community to create positive change through projects, improved education programs and practices. Whilst the role is for the most part Monday to Friday, there will be a requirement for the occasional weekend work.

What this role looks like:

  • Act as an environment education leader;
  • Coordinate and oversee Council’s environmental events;
  • Develop and deliver environmental educational and promotional materials and workshops;
  • Manage and maintain environment centre and provide assistance to visitors at the centre;
  • Manage recruitment and onboarding as well as coordinate, Council’s environment centre volunteers;
  • Represent Council at community and other forums / meetings;
  • Coordinate and oversee community groups/school education programs;
  • Develop and manage website content;
  • Assist with grant applications and sponsorship proposals.

What are we seeking in our new team member:

  • Drivers Licence (Class C) – NSW
  • Experience in developing and delivery of environmental projects and programs;
  • Experience in the preparation of grant applications and sponsorship proposals;
  • Experience in managing volunteers and dealing with the public;
  • First Aid (HLTAID003) + CPR (HLTAID001)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Education, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Natural Resource Management or a related field
