We are seeking a motivated and collaborative team player to support our Program Leader (Environmental Health Projects) in delivering impactful projects and programs. This exciting role focuses on addressing emerging environmental health challenges, including the critical public health impacts of climate change. Join us and make a difference! 

About the role:

  • Conduct environmental health assessments on proposed developments and provide reports and policy advice to Council staff and external stakeholders.
  • Undertake routine environmental health inspections, investigate complaints and reports on possible breaches of food hygiene, and environmental and public health legislation.
  • Enforce laws and regulations related to environmental health and public health.
  • Develop and implement environmental health programs and policies.
  • Provide advice and education to the public, businesses, and other stakeholders on environmental health issues.

We are seeking:

  • Recognised qualification at degree level in Environmental Health or equivalent where specialist knowledge is required. 
  • Eligible for membership of Environmental Health Australia.
  • An understanding of environmental concepts associated with water, noise, and air pollution and public health.
  • Sound knowledge of environmental and public health legislation in a local government environment.

Where it's located:

This position is based in Murwillumbah and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
