Salary: $88,907.72 - $97,420.16 11.5% super
Permanent Full Time - 38 hours, 5 days per week

ABOUT US
Georges Riverkeeper collaborates with seven Member Councils and a Financial Partner to improve the environmental health of the Georges River waterways and catchment. We implement five main programs that promote best practice environmental management and enhance liveability along the river. Established in 1979, Georges Riverkeeper is one of Australia’s longest-serving catchment management groups and is currently hosted by Liverpool City Council.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced environmental scientist to deliver water quality monitoring, water sensitive urban design, creek health and amenity programs and projects in the Georges River catchment, estuaries, coastal zone, and floodplains on behalf of our members. Further to this, you will have broad experience in the fields of stormwater management, natural resource management and creek rehabilitation to deliver on ground projects to improve water quality, facilitate research and provide environmental education. You will need to build and maintain strong relationships with our diverse stakeholders including local councils, government agencies, businesses, environmental groups, and the community. The Environmental Project Officer has primary responsibility for the River Health Report Card monitoring and reporting and projects related to stormwater and litter prevention.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role you will be responsible for the delivery of programs and projects outlined in the Georges River Strategic Plan – River Health and Research program and the Stormwater & Sewage Program. You will be required to collaborate with the Georges Riverkeeper team, member councils and partners to identify appropriate projects within each member LGA and apply for grant funding. A key aspect of the role is to plan and implement the River Health sampling program and analyse and report on results. This will require periods of extensive field work.
ABOUT YOU
The successful applicant will have:
- Tertiary qualification in environmental science or environment management and extensive job-related experience.
- Experience in a similar environmental science / water quality management role.
- Well-developed understanding of catchment, stormwater and waterway management issues within an urban context.
- Experience in the delivery of litter prevention programs and sampling techniques such as AUSMAP.
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills and the ability to present concise and accurate reports, project briefs, presentations, technical papers and grant and award applications.
