Maitland City Council is a diverse and dynamic organisation in a rapidly growing LGA. We are going through an exciting period of change in our Environment and Sustainability team with addition of a newly designed Environmental Restoration Officer role. We are excited to add an experienced environment professional to our highly skilled team and continue making a meaningful impact on our natural environment and community.

About the Role

As Environmental Restoration Officer you will oversee the development and implementation of projects to improve ecosystem health through sustainable management of the local environment by identifying, planning and monitoring environmental restoration outcomes in the Maitland LGA.

As well as being responsible for the management of Council's Landcare program including budgeting and reporting, you will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on environmental restoration and Landcare activities; and deliver education and awareness programs for the community and internal stakeholders.

This role will require periodic rostered weekend work for the purposes of managing Council's Landcare program.

About You

To be successful in this role you will possess a diploma in Conservation and Ecosystem Management or degree qualifications in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management or a related discipline, or a combination of relevant experience and/or education and training, with a particular focus on community led environmental initiatives.

You will have proven experience in coordinating and implementing environmental restoration projects, as well as managing environmental grants. Your strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills enable you to influence and achieve positive outcomes.

Benefits

This is a permanent full-time role working 35 hours per week, including periodic rostered weekend work, with a base salary ranging from $95,235 - $105,711 per year based on demonstrated competencies + 11.5% p.a superannuation.
