Your Position:

As the Executive Assessment Planner, you will work closely with the Manager City Development and will play a crucial part in the City
Development team, using your expertise in the NSW Planning System. You will support the supervision of the day-to-day activities of the team, and
assist the Manager in the day-to-day running of the City Development section.

Your
responsibilities cover a wide range of areas including providing PreDA advice
along with the assessment and determination of development applications,
modification to consents, review of determinations and Building Information
Certificates. You will also be required to provide advice and assist Planning
Panels and Design Review Panels in relation to planning and development matters
whilst providing feedback to the City Planning team on Strategic Land Use,

Integral to your success will be your ability to make practical and pragmatic decisions, build effective relationships, lead in a professional and ethical manner and continue to promote and drive our workplace Purpose, Vision and Values.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Appropriate
    tertiary qualifications, at degree level in Town Planning, and extensive
    workingexperience in Development Assessment
  • Demonstrated
    extensive knowledge of, and experience in Building and Development practices
    and legislation within NSW Local Government
  • Demonstrated
    extensive knowledge of, and experience in understanding and ability to
    interpret and implement Strategic Land Use, Planning, Development & Urban
    Management Strategies, Plans and Policies
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills including the ability to
    critically analyse issues and the ability to develop and implement appropriate
    solutions
  • Extensive experience and ability in preparing and providing PreDA Advice
  • Extensive experience and ability in preparing and undertaking the
    assessment and determination of complex and major development applications,
    modification to consents, review of determinations and Building Information
    Certificates
  • Extensive experience and ability in providing advice and assistance to
    Planning Panels and Design Review Panels
  • Demonstrated extensive knowledge of, and experience in attending Land
    and Environment Court proceedings as an Expert Witness
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare technical submissions to other
    authorities
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor and develop other staff
  • Sound negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills with a solutions-oriented approach

Key Requirements:

  • COVID-19 vaccination for all employees (2 Vaccines)
  • Willingness to complete a National Police History Check
  • Willingness to complete a pre-employment health assessment
  • NSW Construction Induction Card / White card
  • Current NSW C Class Drivers Licence
