About the role

We are seeking two highly organised, proactive professionals to join our team: an Executive Assistant to the General Manager and a Mayoral Support Officer. Both roles play a vital part in supporting Council operations and fostering effective correspondence. You will be an integral part of the leadership support team, working closely with key decision-makers and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders.


Executive Assistant to the General Manager

In this role, you will provide comprehensive executive, administrative, and secretarial support to the General Manager, navigating a politically sensitive environment. Your strong organisational skills will ensure optimal use of the General Manager’s time, contributing to Council's overall success.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the General Manager’s diary, appointments, and correspondence.
  • Coordinate high-level correspondence, including briefs and reports.
  • Research and advise on complex policies to support decision-making.
  • Enhance administrative systems to improve efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records and databases.


Mayoral Support Officer:

You will assist the Executive Councillor Support Officer by providing high-quality correspondence and executive support for the Office of the Mayor and Councillors. This role focuses on preparing and delivering correspondences that align with Council’s strategic goals and ensures timely service to the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft reports, emails, briefs, and correspondence on behalf of the Mayor.
  • Distribute Mayoral correspondences in line with Council’s framework.
  • Support meetings, events, and delegations for the Mayor’s Office.
  • Conduct research and prepare materials for speeches and media releases.
  • Collaborate on communication strategies for Council initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate correspondence records.


About you

We are looking for a someone who demonstrates:

  • Relevant qualifications and/or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in executive assistant or administrative roles, ideally within a politically sensitive environment.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and research skills.
