Your Position:
You will be the urban design subject
matter expert in Council's City Strategy Directorate, with demonstrated
understanding and application of strategic and statutory planning, design and development processes.
Your success in this role will be driven by your experiences and passion for
delivering design excellence in the built environment.
Your
responsibilities will include but not be limited to: -
- Providing urban design advice in
relation to planning proposals, proposed developments and development
applications, as required to the Director City Strategy, Manager City Planning
and Manager City Development; - Leading the preparation and
implementation of planning proposals, development controls, urban design
frameworks and guidelines; - Managing Council's Design Review
Panel as coordinator and secretariat for all design assessment across strategic
and statutory planning functions; - Contributing and leading when
required, to the drafting, review, update, assessment, and preparation of
planning documents including Council's Local Environmental Plan, Development
Control Plan, public domain plans, open space
to ensure quality urban design outcomes; - Undertaking research and analysis to
inform, develop, update, and/or review land use planning and urban design
documents, including vision statements, planning strategies, plans, controls,
standards and policies; - Completing strategic reviews of
rezoning proposals and associated infrastructure to provide sound advice and
achieve sustainable strategic objectives within timeframes and budget; - Providing excellent customer service
to all stakeholders; - Supporting day-to-day operations as
required.
To
be successful in this role you will have: -
- Tertiary qualification in Urban
Design, Urban Planning, Architecture or related discipline and experience
working as an urban designer - Demonstrated experience in strategic urban
planning, urban design reviews and assessment, and implementation of urban
design frameworks and planning strategies into plans and policies - Ability to communicate effectively
and sensitively, whilst developing working relationships with all stakeholders - Excellent written and oral
communication skills - Ability to represent Council in
public forums in a professional and knowledgeable manner - Good research, analytical, time &
project management skills - Availability to work out of hours and
on weekends as required
Key Requirements:
- COVID-19 vaccination for all

Police History Check - Willingness to complete a
pre-employment health assessment - Current NSW C Class Drivers License
- NSW General Construction Induction Card
(White Card)
