About the role

Join the City of Canning as a Finance Business Partner! This exciting opportunity involves working closely with our business units to integrate the long-term financial plan, manage the annual budget, and provide contemporary financial reporting to senior management. Reporting to the Coordinator Strategic Finance, you will be a key senior member of the finance team, driving collaboration and leveraging your technical expertise to achieve the City’s goals.

In this role, you will undertake duties such as:

  • Collaborating with business unit managers to deliver insightful and timely reporting, undertake data analysis and provide analytical support and strategic advice.
  • Prepare monthly management report for circulation to the management team and identifying and communicating trends, risks and opportunities.
  • Develop the annual budget using the City’s Enterprise Budgeting system (Technology One).
  • Prepare statutory and management reports with XL One reporting tool and dashboards.
  • Coordinate quarterly and mid-year budget reviews.
  • Assist in the development of the long-term financial plan.
  • Perform scenario analysis and financial modelling for business reviews and strategic plans.
  • Provide training on the Enterprise Budgeting module, reports, and dashboards.

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Financial Management, or a related discipline.
  • Significant practical experience in management accounting, financial planning, reporting, and control.
  • Experience working within local government is desirable.
  • Strong technical skills to extract and analyse large volumes of data.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
