We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Finance Manager to join our team. As a Finance Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely financial transactions while supporting various administrative functions within the Finance team. If you have a keen eye for detail, exceptional organisational skills, and a passion for financial management, we encourage you to apply.
In this role you will:
- Coordinate the preparation of Council’s Annual Financial Statements
- Maintain Council’s Investment Register .
- Reconcile Council’s Loans Registers
- Prepare Financial Reports, as required, and assist in all areas of general financial reporting and preparation of surveys, acquittals and statutory returns.
- Oversee Council’s Rates and Revenue function
- Ensure Council’s compliance with Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT), including preparing and submitting monthly Business Activity Statements (BAS) and annual FBT returns

ABOUT YOU
We're looking for someone who has:
- Formal qualifications at diploma level in accounting, finance or related discipline.
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles and practices including Australian Accounting Standards, Australian tax legislation, particularly Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) and the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
- Demonstrated experience in maintaining a general ledger including reconciliations and journals.
- Proven experience in coordinating a variety of financial tasks simultaneously to ensure effective service delivery.
- Experience with Civica Authority or similar integrated business system.

The Liverpool Plains Shire Council is a diverse organisation employing over 120 staff across a wide variety of fields who deliver a range of services to the local government area encompassing Blackville, Caroona, Currabubula, Pine Ridge, Premer, Quirindi, Spring Ridge, Wallabadah, Werris Creek and Willow Tree and the almost 8000 residents who reside there.
The council is situated in Quirindi, the heart of the Liverpool Plains, four hours North West of Sydney, famous for its stunning landscapes and rich, highly productive land and is the perfect place to call home.
WHAT WE OFFER YOU
This role offers the opportunity for you to be part of a competent, high performance team, along with opportunities for ongoing training. We offer a salary starting at $94,957 to $121,550 gross per annum plus superannuation. The starting salary will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on skills, knowledge and experience relevant to the position.
