As a member of our finance team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our payroll and asset management functions.

About the Role:

As a Finance Officer - Payroll and Assets, you will provide support and assistance in delivering high-quality payroll services to both internal and external stakeholders. You will ensure compliance with legislation and maintain accurate and reliable financial data.

In addition to your payroll responsibilities, you will also provide support to various areas of financial services as required, contributing to the overall success of the team. Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Assist the Payroll Officer in maintaining the Council's payroll system, including onboarding new staff.
  • Maintain employee records, pay rates, and leave entitlements.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, providing accurate information in line with Council policies and relevant legislation.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial data entered into systems.
  • Assist with financial reconciliations and reports.
  • Process documents, prepare correspondence, and maintain complex spreadsheets as required.

About You:

The ideal candidate for this position is detail-oriented, have excellent communication skills, and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and integrity in their work. You also will have: 

  • A Certificate III in Finance or equivalent, or demonstrated equivalent experience in a similar role.
  • Prior experience using Microsoft Office Word and Excel, as well as financial software packages.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated customer service experience, including managing inquiries and complaints with sensitivity and discretion.
