About the role
The City is looking for a dedicated leader and experience finance professional to come on board as our Financial Accountant!
A snapshot of your role
- Supporting the Coordinator Accounting, you and your team will provide a range of financial services across the City.
- You will ensure responsible coordination and accountability of the City’s borrowings, reconciliations, schedules and payments.
- You will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and tax compliance and be able to competently demonstrate how they interface with the ATO guidelines and relevant legislation for you and your team.
- You will use your expertise both as a leader and technical knowledge as a finance professional to guide and support the accounting team you lead in providing great service delivery.

What we’re looking for:
- A people first approach, you will understand the people who make the business work, not just in your team but the wider Finance team.
- Above all else, you will foster and champion the benefit of having lasting team relationships and you will do it with a level of care and kindness.
- Your background in accounting will be one of experience and have a have a particularly nuanced attention to detail across a range of financial services including but not limited to end of month/year routines, compliance with all relevant legislation and auditing requirements.
- CA, CPA (or working towards) or equivalent Accounting qualification.
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or equivalent qualification.
- Whilst we’d love some Technology One experience, what we’d love more is someone with the ability to work and adapt with an established system (i.e. you are able to see where systems can work to your advantage!)
