About the role

This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who demonstrates exceptional communication skills and leadership qualities.  As a member of the Bayside Council team, you will become part of a well-known, dedicated organisation that truly cares for their community and employees as demonstrated by the various initiatives offered.

The Leading Hand assists Team Leaders to deliver a program of scheduled, proactive and reactive works in line with Council’s service levels and guarantees. The role is responsible for the day to day over-seeing of small team(s) that conduct a wide range of activities and to ensure that all allocated work and/or programs are met. Duties may involve driving medium and/or heavy rigid vehicles. This role will be based at either our Bexley or Mascot Depot.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist with the delivery of all relevant activities and services to meet service expectations
  • Plan, organise and deliver work to ensure effective delivery of instructions or programs.
  • Provide feedback to enable Team Leader(s) to improve the service delivery, highlight WH&S issues, and reduce risks
  • Actively participate and contribute constructively to team discussions and meetings to enhance productivity, efficiency and safety
  • Carry out operational responsibilities in accordance with Council’s plans, policies and procedures, and in accordance with WH&S legislation.
  • Undertake any other reasonable outcomes identified and authorised by General Manager, Director, Manager, Coordinator, Supervisor, or Team Leader.
  • Promote the positive and collaborative culture and values of the organisation through open, fair and transparent decision making and ethical, professional behaviour.

About you

We are looking for an individual with a strong work ethic and good communication skills who meets the following criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience in leading small team(s) within a relevant field.
  • Current Heavy Rigid (HR) Vehicle Driver’s Licence.
  • A SafeWork NSW white card (general construction induction card).

Salary Range: $61,036.42 - $68,360.60 per annum plus 11.5% superannuation
