ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Information Services team is committed to providing high quality service to all stakeholders who include our Community, our Executive, the Leadership Group and all Council staff. The team provides timely and accurate advice and utilises better practice methods and procedures and continuous improvement methodologies while developing new and innovative solutions to problems in a consultative and customer focused manner.

The GIS Mobility Officer role is responsible for providing mapping support, updating TechOne asset register, first level support for TechOne mobility module as well as work order creation, technical analysis and etc. The role will require partnerships to be developed with internal business units to support their operations and enhance the use of GIS, T1 Assets and iPad across Council.  In order to provide a first-level support and training to outdoor crew, the role will likely spend their primary time at Auburn Depot

The successful applicant will require:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Spatial Information Systems, GIS or asset management and a land related discipline or proven work experience
  • Demonstrated experience with GIS applications such QGIS and/or MapInfo Pro 2023
  • Ability to provide the first-level technical support to operational staff in the use of iPad and T1 Assets System
  • Proven experience in maintaining core assets data such as roads, drainage network, parks, building and open space facilities, work orders and capital work etc.
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of asset management and systems as related to Local Government
  • Ability to carry out data analysis and produce high quality maps through strong analytical and spreadsheet skills
  • Proven ability to work productively as a member of a team and contribute to team goals, explain technical concepts and adhere to agreed timeframes
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Carry out duties as directed by Supervisor
  • Class C drivers licence

About this role: 

  • Permanent, full-time position
  • 70 hour fortnight
  • Access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO) arrangement
  • Located at Council's Merrylands office and Council's Auburn depot, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations.

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

  • Grade 10 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,583.78 to $1,821.35 per week, plus 11.5% superannuation
  • The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role

What you'll need to have for this role:

  • The right to live and work in Australia
  • Be able to provide information for pre-employment checks required for the position, including attending a physical pre-employment medical examination as required
  • Participate in health monitoring as outlined in the risk assessment for this position and Council’s Health Monitoring Procedure, as required
  • Provide evidence of your vaccination status as part of the employment screening process, in accordance with Council’s COVID-19 Vaccination Procedure.
