Graduate Civil Design Engineer

1x Temporary Full Time - 35 hours, 5 days per week (24 Months)
Salary: $78,076.79 - $85,552.19 and 11.5% Super

ABOUT THE ROLE

Liverpool City Council (Council) has an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified Civil Engineering graduates to join our Civil Engineering Design and Survey team. The purpose of the position is to provide professional, timely and high-quality civil engineering design services, to enable and support the delivery of infrastructure across the Liverpool LGA.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for carrying out design, documentation for the construction purposes of urban and rural stormwater drainage, road works, flood mitigation works, traffic facilities and other civil infrastructure projects with support and guidance from more experienced engineers.
  • Through guidance by the Coordinator Civil Engineering Design and Survey, prepare concept and detailed design packages and other relevant documentation for smaller projects for constructing roads, retaining walls, car parks, driveways minor and major drainage systems, open channels etc.
  • Through guidance by the Coordinator Civil Engineering Design and Survey, undertake the concept and detailed design using 12D, AutoTURN, DRAINS, AutoCAD and ParkCAD programs and in accordance with Liverpool City Council’s Investigations and Design process.
  • Checking and preparing schedule of quantities and cost estimates.
  • Liaise with seniors’ engineers when undertaking underground services investigations such as DBYD or potholing.
  • Checking and assessing design and survey information received to ensure that it is technically accurate and sufficient for the specific project.
  • Checking plans and completing Quality Assurance forms in accordance with Liverpool City Council Investigation and design process.
  • Liaising with the Coordinator Civil Engineering Design and Survey, Senior Engineers and Project Manager regarding design progress, design variations, etc. in accordance with Investigations and design process.

ABOUT YOU

Our desired candidate will have the following:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or nearing to completion of the degree.
  • Demonstrated some experience in the preparation of civil engineering design, drafting and documentation for roads, kerb and gutter, retaining walls, carparks, shared paths, drainage, traffic facilities, roundabouts and other civil engineering infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of 12D and AutoCAD software, for the preparation of civil design drawings.
  • Demonstrated experience in complying with a quality management system for civil engineering designs.
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation of cost estimates of small to medium size projects.
  • knowledge of Local Government, Transport for NSW and Austroads Design standards and practices.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project.
  • Knowledge of Work Health and Safety practices, the principles of Equal Employment Opportunities, ethical practice and multi-cultural diversity.
  • Class C Drivers Licence
