About the opportunity
Located along the Westlink M7, Blacktown International Sports Park (BISP) is the premier elite training and playing facility in Western Sydney. First opened in 2000 for the Sydney Olympic Games, the facility has continued to grow and now incorporates a variety of sporting facilities across 54 hectares, including:
- Blacktown Football Park
- 12 soccer fields with the inclusion of 6 additional fields completed in May 2020
- Western Sydney Wanderers administration and training facility
- Blacktown District Soccer Football Association administration and training facility.
- Athletics
- International Association of World Athletics (WA) Mondo track
- Turf Infield
- Multi-Use field for League, Union and Soccer.
- Cricket/AFL Precinct
- Two ovals for cricket and AFL in addition to Joe McAleer Reserve (NSW Premier Cricket Ground of the Year 2016-17 and 2017-18)
- 32 turf practice wickets for international, first-class, and Cricket NSW academy training.

We are currently looking to appoint a grounds person lead on a permanent, full-time basis who will provide leadership to an experienced and passionate grounds team. You will be responsible for assisting the Senior Team Leader in delivering the year round maintenance, preparation and renovation of all turf and landscaped areas at Blacktown International Sports Park.
An ideal candidate will possess a strong attention to detail and an ability to work pro-actively under pressure to meet deadlines to ensure we continue to provide surfaces of the highest quality for all stakeholders.
Qualifications and experience
Essential:
- Certificate III in Horticulture (Turf), Sports Turf Management or a related area
- Current class C driver’s licence
- Experience and knowledge of high standard sporting field preparation and other areas including common reserves and landscaping
- Chemical Application Accreditation AQF3 or equivalent.
Desirable:
- Experience in the maintenance and preparation of sand profile sports fields, turf wickets, softball and baseball diamonds
- Current class MR driver’s licence
- Chemical Application Accreditation AQF4 or equivalent
- Senior First Aid Certificate
- Ability to work flexible working hours
- Ability to work within a team environment.
Remuneration and benefits
The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.
- Entry level for this position starts at $1,451.97 per week
- 38-hour working week
- Rostered Day Off (RDO) every fortnight
