We are looking for an experienced and strategic Head of Operations, City Life to join our Community and Culture Directorate.
About the Opportunity
The Head of Operations, City Life plays a pivotal leadership role in the delivery of exceptional, compliant and community-focused services across our Customer Experience, Events, and Programming & Operations teams. This position is responsible for driving strategic planning and operational excellence, ensuring services align with community needs and Council priorities.
The role leads the development and implementation of strategic and operational plans, conducting business analysis to inform service improvements and support decision-making. It also involves managing complex projects and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and governance frameworks.
The successful candidate will monitor budgets, lead performance reporting, and identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement. They will provide guidance to People Leaders and support staff development while fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
Additionally, the role acts as a strategic advisor and trusted deputy to the Manager City Life, contributing to policy development and overseeing key projects and stakeholder relationships.
What We Offer
- Permanent, Full-Time – 70 hours per fortnight
- Salary from $123,891.39 – $143,546.89 per annum plus 11.5% superannuation (dependent on skills and experience)

What We're Looking For
- Tertiary qualification in Business Administration, Project Management or related field
- Current NSW Driver’s Licence (Class C)
- Demonstrated high-level written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, including negotiation, consultation and report writing
- Demonstrated experience managing complex projects and competing priorities, with the ability to meet deadlines
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing operational budgets, cost control and reporting
- Proven ability to conduct business analysis, interpret data, and inform strategy
- Extensive experience using Microsoft Office Suite, content management systems and technology in a Customer Experience, Events or Operations setting
- Demonstrated experience managing internal and external stakeholder relationships at a senior level
Desirable
- Experience in Local Government or the public sector
