Your new job
At Mid-Western Regional Council we are seeking for an experienced Health and Building Surveyor to join our team on a full-time ongoing basis. You will work with the Manager Building and Development and
Building Surveyors to provide a quality environmental health and building
service, as well provide technical health and building expertise and advice. The salary range being offered for this full-time position is $3497.60 - $3936.50 gross per fortnight plus superannuation which equates to an annual salary of $90937-$102349 gross plus superannuation (dependent on skills, qualifications and experience) and long service leave after 5 years.

Key Accountabilities
- To
provide technical health and building expertise and advice to the Manager
Building and Development, other staff and the public on health and building
related matters. - To
meet the deadlines associated with the assessment of applications and other
statutory certificates and applications as required. - To
provide excellence in customer service through the efficient delivery of clear
and accurate advice at the front counter, in pre-development application
discussions and general correspondence. - Represent
Council at meetings and meet with members of the public to effectively guide
development within the region and achieve good quality building outcomes. - The
timely response to correspondence as it relates to environmental health and
building issues. - To
co-ordinate programs and undertake inspections as required to ensure that
Council meets its obligations regarding the safe handling of food, on-site
disposal of waste and other legislative requirements. - To
ensure that Council meets its commitments under the EPA Act relating to
building control. - To
actively promote and demonstrate the core values and behavioural requirements
of the Workplace Environment Statement.
About you
- Tertiary qualifications (or similar) in Building Surveying.
- Minimum one (1) years’ experience in a Local Government Development Control and Health environment (or equivalent)
- Class C Drivers Licence
- Current registration (accreditation) as a Building Surveyor – Restricted (all classes of building) (A3).
- General Construction Induction Card (White card)
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact at all levels on technical advice and policy issues to both internal and external clients
- Proven ability to perform successful negotiation and conflict resolution to achieve satisfactory outcomes
- Proven ability in the use of effective decision making and problem solving techniques/processes
- Proven word processing skills/spreadsheet and database skills
