In responding to Camden Council's continued rapid growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced Health and Wellbeing Officer to join the team in Council's dynamic and high-achieving People Learning and Culture Branch.

This is a pivotal role in enhancing health and wellbeing initiatives at Council through the development of innovative programs, and dedication to health and wellbeing for staff. Reporting to the Team Leader Injury Management and Wellbeing, this position plays a crucial part in transforming our work environment and culture by researching, developing, and implementing health and wellbeing programs and providing advice and support to our staff and leadership team on the four pillars of health.

Using your ability to think strategically, holistically and creatively, this role will also be responsible for promoting Council's Elev8 (Health and Wellbeing ) Program while supporting the administrative functions associated with injury management and return to work.

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Safety or Human Resources or equivalent discipline or equivalent demonstrated experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and implement legislation, relevant awards, codes, policies, and procedures and develop measures that develop capability of staff and leaders to confidently manage their obligations and responsibilities associated with health, wellbeing and injury management.
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative and act independently to ensure excellence in customer service and best practice.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to negotiate, consult and provide advice on health and well being initiatives and injury management.
  • The ability to effectively coordinate health and wellbeing initiatives across the whole of council tailoring initiatives to workgroups and demographics within Council.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading the design, implementation and evaluation of wellbeing activities and stakeholder management in a diverse work environment.

Desirable:

  • Experience in Local Government

To meet Council's WHS requirements and in accordance with Council's Covid-19 Safety Plans, this position has been identified via risk assessment to be required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or provide evidence of an approved medical contraindication. If a medical contraindication certificate is provided, it will be assessed against a risk assessment and the decision of whether Council accepts the medical contraindication certificate, will be based on operational needs.
