About the opportunity

We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Human Resource Officer to join our dynamic People and Culture team at Blacktown City Council. This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to contribute to our Human Resource Services on a permanent, full-time basis.

As a Human Resource Officer, you will be responsible for delivering proactive and efficient employee services in alignment with the Council’s strategic direction. You will play a crucial role in supporting the Council's efforts to attract, develop, and retain qualified employees by providing effective support and advisory services in line with current HR, recruitment, and employee relations practices.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in an appropriate field - Diploma or above and/ or relevant experience in human resources, recruitment and employee relations.
  • Demonstrated well developed communication and interpersonal skills, sound analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary human resource practices and current issues.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to quickly learn corporate systems and applications.
  • Ability work within a small, dynamic and fast-paced team environment.
  • Availability to work flexible working hours.
  • Current class C driver’s licence.

Desirable:

  • A sound knowledge of Commonwealth, State and Local Government Legislation impacting on HR, recruitment and employee relations.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $1,730.04 per week
  • 35-hour working week 
  • Opportunity to participate in Council's flextime arrangement
  • Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 11.5% employer superannuation contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport and gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
