The Role
Reporting to the Manager Economic Development and based in Windsor, NSW, this position is responsible for Council’s support of the region’s industry engagement efforts by developing and implementing initiatives to facilitate the sustainability and expansion of existing business and industries operating within the Hawkesbury City Council LGA. This position is also responsible for establishing and implementing a Place Activation program, which will build resilient communities, foster a strong sense of place, increase visitation, and enhance perceptions of the City broadly.
About You
You will have demonstrated experience in working effectively with business, government, and commercial interests across various professional boundaries. You will demonstrate a solid understanding of the role and functions of Local Government and working within a politically sensitive environment. You will have excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills including the ability to influence, collaborate and develop effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
Essential Criteria
- A tertiary qualification in Business, Planning, Commerce, Economics, Marketing, Events Management and/or equivalent practical experience in a related field
- Demonstrated experience in implementing place activation initiatives that improve visitation and create a strong sense of place
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex research and data analysis to a variety of audiences
- Demonstrated ability to understand and determine commercial market and other business opportunities
- Research skills and the ability to undertake economic analysis
- Demonstrated creative problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve complex issues
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability with maintaining and building existing and new business relationships
- The right to live and work in Australia
- Class C Drivers Licence
- WHS General Construction Work in NSW
- Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- Successful applicants will be required to undergo background (police) checks and medical declaration
