Your New Role:

We are excited to offer an excellent opportunity for an experienced Information Officer to join our multi-award-winning organisation as part of our Governance and Information Services Team. This 12-month temporary full-time role is ideal for a professional passionate about streamlining information management, implementing best-practice measures and driving continuous improvement within a dynamic local government setting.

As the Information Officer, you will play a key role in facilitating the flow of information across Council, administering core systems, and providing training and guidance to internal stakeholders. You will also monitor the use of Council’s information systems to ensure they are utilised effectively and remain compliant with NSW State Government legislation, policies, and procedures.

A major focus of this role will be to assist with migrating from a legacy version of OpenText Content Manager to a modern document management platform. This involves designing and implementing a robust framework to safeguard Council's records, ensuring long-term compliance and accessibility.

Additionally, you will deliver strategic advice to stakeholders on the appraisal, sentencing, destruction, and transfer of the Council's records while fostering a culture of excellence in information governance across the organisation.

Key Accountabilities include:

  • Migration project support – contribute to the migration by actioning project tasks, providing advice on records classification, security protocols etc.
  • Supporting the management of Council's information across core systems, including OpenText Content Manager and Microsoft 365.
  • Administering the systems in accordance with the NSW State Records Act 1998.
  • Providing training and support to the organisation on information management practices.
  • Offering front-line information management advice to staff and stakeholders.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Relevant qualifications in Information Management, Records Management, or a related field
  • Certification or training in OpenText Content Manager and Microsoft 365 is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in administering information management systems and have sound knowledge of the NSW State Records Act and it’s application in a local government context.
  • Knowledge of OpenText Content Manager system highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with the NSW State Records Act 1998 and other relevant legislation
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to deliver engaging training sessions and provide clear advice.
  • Demonstrated capability to work collaboratively in a team and independently on projects.
