Salary: $104,611 to $116,755 per annum (based on 70 hours per fortnight), plus superannuation and a nine-day fortnight.
Appointed salary in this range will be based on skills, qualifications and experience.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Instructional Designer to join the Organisational Development (OD) team within People & Culture!
About us
Hornsby Shire is located on Sydney's upper north shore, approximately 25 kilometres north of the CBD. Known as the ‘Bushland Shire’, our local government area is characterised by bushland comprising national park, major waterways, natural reserves and rural landscape. The rest of the Shire combines urban, rural and open spaces.

About the role
The purpose of this role is to analyse learning requirements, design and develop high-quality practical and learner centric programs/solutions that builds leadership capability at all levels. Joining us will offer an opportunity to create learning that will help shape how we lead at Hornsby Shire Council both now and in the future.
- Partner with our customers and stakeholders to understand learning requirements.
- Analyse, design and develop learning materials and programs including supporting documentation focussed on leadership fundamentals for frontline leaders and individual contributors.
- Create variety of learning engagement activities to suite diverse learning styles and workforce.
- Design pre and post learning assessments including tactics to support on-the-job application.
- Develop digital learning and tools to support and reinforce program learnings.
- Deliver Train-the-Trainer sessions within People and Culture.
What we're looking for
We are looking for an Instructional Designer to create leadership development courses/solutions with a focus on face-to-face learning. In this role you’ll bring developed subject matter expertise in instructional design methodologies and frameworks to strategically create learning that generates self-reflection and inspires behaviour change.
- Extensive experience developing high-quality leadership 101 programs using instructional design methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare impactful (written and oral) learning content within set timelines.
- A proactive and customer centric approach.
- A drive for attention to detail and aesthetics.
- Working with agility and strong organisation skills with ability to prioritise projects guided by OD priorities.
- Collaborative working style
- Advanced Microsoft Power Point and Word skills. (Digital graphic tools e.g. Canva, eLearn, video experience viewed favourably.)
