About the Opportunity

Georges River Council is currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated IMT Service Desk Technician to join our dynamic and busy Information Management Technology (IMT) team. The IMT Service Desk Technician will report to the Team Leader Technology Business Support and will be responsible for supporting the Information Management and Technology activities of the Council through the provision of Technology support across Council in a proactive and customer focused manner.

The IMT Service Desk Technician at Georges River Council is responsible for the installation, support, and maintenance of IMT software and hardware in accordance with the ITIL service management framework. They oversee the Standard Operating Environment deployment and ensure efficient resolution of incidents raised in the helpdesk within agreed time frames. Additionally, they provide training for Council staff, seek to achieve first call resolutions, and mentor Cadet/Graduates in the Technology Training and Mentoring Program.

The role also involves efficient onboarding and offboarding staff, establishing and enhancing standards and procedures, and conducting operational functions and maintenance in line with ITIL framework. Other responsibilities include observing security procedures, maintaining the IMT Knowledge Base, tracking and managing technology assets and mobile devices, participating in afterhours on-call support, and undertaking any other required duties.

Selection Criteria:

Qualifications, Certificates & Licences

  • Formal qualification in information management techniques and processes or equivalent experience in similar role
  • Class C Drivers Licence

Essential

  • Proven ability to provide a high standard of customer service.
  • Ability to work effectively unsupervised and as a member of a small team.
  • Willingness to guide and mentor the trainees to develop technical skills that will support the greater IMT team.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess user requirements and solve problems objectively.
  • demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and discover the root cause of issues raised through customer interactions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability in providing desktop, server, and network support in line with ITIL service management framework.
  • Demonstrated conceptual knowledge and operational experience of operating systems, network support, and application implementation, support and change management.
  • Ability to work outside of standard hours for on call support and meeting support for Council and Councillor meetings.
