Your position:
Burwood Council is proud to offer a Traineeship with our Parks and Gardens team as we look to the future ensuring our staff have fulfilling careers and are skilled and experienced to deliver high quality services to our community. As a Landscape Gardener Trainee, you will be part of a dedicated team that helps maintain and enhance Burwood's parks and gardens while gaining hands-on experience and working towards a Certificate III in Horticulture.
As a Landscape Gardener Trainee, you will:
- Work alongside experienced team members to maintain and improve Burwood’s parks, gardens, and sports fields
- Learn practical skills such as mowing, edging, planting, pruning, and turf care
- Gain experience with the safe use of tools, machinery, and equipment used in landscaping and horticulture
- Participate in on-the-job training while completing your studies towards a Certificate III in Horticulture
- Contribute to creating beautiful open spaces for the Burwood community
Key requirements:
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- A willingness to enrol in and complete a Certificate III in Horticulture
- A passion for working outdoors and an interest in learning landscape gardening
- A positive attitude, enthusiasm to learn, and a commitment to teamwork
- A NSW White Card (or willingness to obtain one)
- Be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (minimum two doses)
- Be willing to undertake pre-employment screening, which may include a medical exam and/or police check
