About the role
Join the City of Coffs Harbour as a Lead Engineering Designer and play a crucial role in shaping our infrastructure while making a meaningful impact on the Coffs Coast community. The successful candidate will possess significant relevant project work experience in detailed designs for civil engineering infrastructure e.g. roads, roundabouts, stormwater, water mains, sewer mains, carparks, footpaths, and open spaces.
As a Lead Engineering Designer, you will conduct comprehensive design investigations, collaborating with Project Managers to develop innovative concept designs that meet stakeholder requirements. Your expertise in consulting with authorities, applying risk management, and analysing project options will drive our projects forward. Your insights and proficiency in computer-aided design, drafting and modelling software will help identify and implement opportunities for business improvement and automation, ultimately enhancing our design processes.
As a key member of our team, you'll foster essential relationships with internal colleagues and external partners, ensuring that all project documentation meets quality, time, and budget standards. Your role will include developing and monitoring quality processes while managing our Survey and Design systems. A high level of competency in computer-aided design, drafting and modelling software is required.
A very exciting part of this position will involve overseeing the technical development of survey and design trainees, ensuring high-quality designs through established guidelines and safety principles. A passion for mentorship and seeing others thrive is an imperative part of this leadership role.

About you?
- Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Significant relevant project work experience in detailed designs for civil engineering infrastructure e.g. roads, roundabouts, stormwater, water mains, sewer mains, carparks, footpaths, and open spaces.
- Significant experience and highly proficient in computer-aided design and modelling software in particular 12d Model, and drafting software in particular BricsCAD or AutoCAD with emphasis on the usage of the advanced software features and software customisation.
- Demonstrated experience in the application of engineering principles as they relate to this position.
- Current Class C Drivers.

- Starting salary from $105,952.63 + Civil Liability Allowance of 3.5% + travel and meal allowance as applicable + 11.5% superannuation.
