The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Leading Hand Sundry to join our Operations Team based in Urana. In this role you will be responsible for assisting the Works Overseer in the instruction and supervision of employees and contractors, ensuring service standards, work plans and schedules are adhered to. You will take part in maintenance and repair of various areas of construction, and will ensure all plans, safety measures and written instructions are understood and adhered to. With many different tasks involved in the position, you will gain a wealth of transferrable skills and knowledge!

Criteria

  • Hold a current and valid Heavy Combination (HC) Licence with experience.
  • Hold a Construction Induction Certificate (White Card)
  • Demonstrated experience in civil construction activities associated with signs, culverts, potholes, roadside furniture and footpaths, and the construction of kerbs and gutters;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of WHS practices and ability to actively encourage and promote a safe working environment
  • Good verbal communications skills and the capacity to deal with employees and the public effectively
  • Demonstrated experience in supervising staff, allocating work and managing plant and materials.

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Council’s policies and conditions of employment.  The salary is commencing at $1,331.60 per week plus standard allowances, with progression up to $1,469.90 per week dependent upon skills and experience.
