Blacktown Leisure Centre Stanhope is an award-winning multi-purpose facility that offers high-quality programs and services. It includes an indoor aquatic centre with a 25 metre 10 lane lap pool, wave pool, program pool, a 4-court stadium, 16 plexicushion tennis courts, health and fitness centre, crèche and a function room.
We are looking for a motivated and experienced individual who shares a commitment and passion for sport and leisure to join us as a Learn to Swim Assistant on a permanent, full-time basis.
This role is responsible for assisting in the delivery of a well-respected and professionally operated swim school program. This includes liaising with the Swim School Team Leader to lead a swim school team of casual staff with an emphasis on quality customer service, enrolment retention and class consolidation.
Position purpose:
The successful candidate will have experience within a swim school environment, strong and effective customer service skills and knowledge of aquatic industry guidelines including Workplace Health and Safety.
The responsibilities include:
- Managing the day-to-day operations of the swim school program
- Delivery of key swimming and water safety programs
- Assist in the recruitment and training of all swim school staff including rostering and worksheet completion
- Organisation of daily resources.

Qualifications and experience
Essential:
- Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety - AUSTSWIM, Swim Australia or Royal Life Saving
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Current CPR Certificate
- Experience in a similar swim school role
- Current Working with Children Check.
Desirable:
- Pool Lifeguard Award/Bronze Medallion Award
- Experience and knowledge of the administration of swimming programs and resources
- Sound computer skills with proficiency in point-of-sale and membership software
- Austswim Certificate in Teacher of Infant Aquatics.
Remuneration and benefits
The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.
- Entry level for this position starts at $1,156.81 per week plus an additional 12.25% in accordance with Council's flexibility agreement
- 114 hours worked over a 3-week roster, including 1 weekend within the cycle
- Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 11.5% employer superannuation contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport and gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
