What this role looks like:
• Provide administrative and secretarial services to the Corporate Lawyer, including documentation and diary management.
• Administer Council’s ‘Legal Portal’ to ensure all internal legal requests are submitted, scheduled and actioned by the Corporate Lawyer in a timely manner.
• Provide information to support the Corporate Lawyer with customer enquiries, correspondence and other matters as requested.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to obtain and provide all necessary information and assistance including responding to enquiries and escalating issues appropriately to ensure queries are responded to in a timely manner.
• Coordinate and organise meetings / conciliation conferences, electronic equipment, catering and take minutes.
• Attend to phone, written and online enquiries / requests with discretion and assign to relevant stakeholders.
• Coordinate the preparation of correspondence and reports and Business Papers for Council Workshops and Meetings, including monthly legal status report.
• Provide quality and efficient general legal support including preparing for meetings, registering and updating matter documents, prepopulating standard correspondence and legal document templates, and preparing and maintaining schedules in order to assist Corporate Lawyer.
What are we seeking in our new team member:
• Positive and engaged team member.
• 2-3 years’ experience in a legal secretarial or paralegal position
• Demonstrated experience in dealing with customer enquiries in an efficient & courteous manner
• High level interpersonal, organisational, verbal & written communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Packages (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and Zoom;
• High attention to detail
• Local Government experience (Desirable)
• Experience in using TechOne or similar corporate Systems (Desirable)
