You have a passion for helping people. You have experience in delivering front facing customer service, are customer focused and tech savvy with a can-do attitude. You enjoy providing high quality customer services to the community. You will be organised, self-motivated and value the opportunity to work as part of a team. As a casual library assistant, you will enjoy a role where no two days are the same! You will work in a customer facing environment assisting customers with accessing library resources and facilities.


There are opportunities available in our library branches in Dubbo and Wellington. On occasion, there may be opportunity to work within other nearby branches.

You’ll make an impact by:

  • Support customers in the use of library facilities, resources and PC applications.
  • Deliver excellent face to face customer service to all library users.
  • Issue and return library materials.
  • Re-shelving and shelf reading.
  • Operate library equipment.
  • Respond to borrowers' enquiries and provide basic information services.

What you'll bring

To thrive in this role, you will need:

  • Higher School Certificate.
  • Highly developed communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated experience in providing excellent customer service
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
  • Strong computer literacy and understanding of common software packages
  • A willingness to work Monday to Sunday and evenings.
  • A current working with children check.

This position offers a salary of $29.63 per hour. 25% casual loading will be paid in addition to this hourly rate. This loading shall be paid in lieu of all leave and severance pay, except for paid parental leave prescribed by the Award. Casual loading is not payable on overtime.
