About the role
This is a permanent, full time position working 35 hours per week at the Nowra Administration Building.

This position works with the LocalEmergency Management Committee, Chair of the LEMC and Local Emergency Operations Controller to provide advice and guidance on Emergency Management matters within the Shoalhaven Region.
Duties
Reporting directly to the Manager – Works & Services, the focus of this position is to:

- Perform duties as an executive officer to the Local Emergency Management Committee (LEMC)
- Establish and maintain liaison with appropriate stakeholders including local government, combat agencies, emergency service organisations, functional areas, government agencies, industry, risk creators and community groups to provide guidance on their involvement in emergency management at a local level
- Provide guidance and assistance to develop and maintain local emergency plans, sub plans and supporting plans.
- Act as Local Emergency Management Officer (LEMO) and represent Council in emergency management matters.
- Prepare and coordinate Impact Assessments to gather information in support of Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements.
- Manage work area planning and workload prioritisation of the Deputy LEMO and Bushfire Mitigation Officers.
On call – Being available to be on-call and complete reasonable overtime is a requirement of this position.
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this position you will have:

- Tertiary qualifications in emergency management or a related field
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with legislation, regulation and codes of practice that impact on emergency management.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in emergency management administration
- Demonstrated experience in working with Emergency Services and other Government agencies.
- Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of NSW Emergency Management Arrangements and emergency management principles
- Ability to understand and give instructions and to execute or allocate resources in the completion of tasks during major disasters or emergencies.
- Current Class C Driver’s Licence
- Proof of Australian residency or citizenship, or authority to work in Australia (visa)
