Full-time (average of 38 hours per week)

You are primarily responsible for supporting the City’s Divisions in managing their financial performance, you will provide effective and accurate technical advice and accounting services.  You will also develop and maintain appropriate cost accounting methodologies and systems, to enable the accurate project costing for capital works and operating projects.

You have previous significant experience in either a commercial or local government authority, with high exposure to budgeting, management accounting and financial reporting.  Familiar with compliance requirements, both statutory and accounting standards, you are adept at resolving complex issues and preparing clear, concise recommendations for peer or at Executive level.  You have strong interpersonal skills and are able to build strong working relationships that are mutually cooperative and assist in resolving intra organisational issues.

Undergraduate degree qualified in either Accounting or Finance, you are also a CPA, or progressing towards achieving this.

To be considered for this role, you must address the following selection criteria in your application:

  • Well-developed communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills with the ability to gain the cooperation and assistance of others in the organisation to resolve intra organisational issues
  • Ability to communicate and impart knowledge of a technical nature to all employee levels
  • High level exposure to budgeting, management accounting and financial reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake research, problem solve complex issues, develop clear and concise recommendations appropriate for either peers or the Executive
  • Comprehensive knowledge of computer information systems specifically the Microsoft Office suite and large financial management programs

This position offers a gross salary of $95,325 per annum (dependent on skills and experience). In addition we offer:

  • 11.5% superannuation with the option to co-contribute up to a further 5%
