The Role

Reporting to the Director City Planning and based in Windsor, NSW this position is responsible to effectively lead the Compliance, Community Enforcement, Environmental Heath, Sewerage Management facilities and Animal shelter functions of Council and ensure a co-ordinated, multi-disciplinary and strategic approach is applied to Council’s compliance and regulatory functions, as well as manage the day-to-day operations of the Branch and team.

About You

You will have demonstrated experience supervising and leading high performing teams, to successfully deliver organisational objectives. You will have extensive experience in Environment and Regulatory services coupled with excellent project management skills to plan, prioritise and co-ordinate activities across a multi-disciplinary team. You will demonstrate integrity and accountability as core values as well with a well-developed ability to influence, negotiate and problem solve.

Essential Criteria

  • Qualifications in Environmental Health, Regulatory Services or related discipline and / or relevant industry experience
  • Demonstrated experience in Environment and Regulatory services particularly in Local Government
  • Proven experience in leading, motivating and providing direction to a multi-disciplinary team
  • Project management skills and ability to plan, prioritise and co-ordinate activities
  • Well-developed mediation and negotiation skills with developers/applicants as well as analytical, report writing and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NSW Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, Local Government Act, Protection of the Environment Operations Act, Companion Animals Act and associated legislation
  • Experience as an expert in the Land and Environment Court
  • Experience at senior management level within an organisation
  • Proven experience in the delivery of responsive customer service
  • Ability to present concise and accurate reports on matters affecting the Branch responsibilities
  • Class C Drivers Licence
  • Working with Children Check (WWCC)
