About the Role

The Marketing and Communications Coordinator is responsible for the delivery of exceptional internal and external communications and marketing support. Join our team and promote and improve Narrabri Shire Council's public image while enhancing community understanding of Council's role and services. This exciting temporary opportunity will see you step into the role of Marketing and Communications Coordinator through to July 2025

As the Marketing and Communications Coordinator, you will provide accurate and timely writing and editing services for public documents, including Mayoral columns, community newsletters, fact sheets, website content, media releases, and speeches. You will also coordinate proactive and reactive media activities, establish and manage effective networks with local, regional, and national media organisations, and monitor public opinion in relation to Council's services.

In addition, you will deliver creative and engaging content in Council publications and promotional materials, ensuring high-quality writing, editing, proofreading, design, photography, and printing.

About You

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate individual with the following qualifications and experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or 5 years' experience in communications, marketing, or similar
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating a team within the Communications sector
  • Proven ability to develop, implement, and deliver effective strategies
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including writing, editing, proofreading, and presentation
  • Experience in website management and social media content management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and desktop publishing software, including Adobe InDesign
  • Excellent people skills and proven ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to manage conflicting deadlines, handle sensitive information, and make judgement-based decisions
