Camden Council are looking for a qualified Mechanic to become part of our team. You will bring with you experience and an eagerness to learn new skills within the mechanical trade. You will be responsible for carrying out maintenance to Council trucks, plant and equipment to ensure quality service in the delivery and maintenance of Community Assets and Waste Services.

Essential:

  • Relevant Trade Certificate (Motor, plant. or heavy Vehicle Mechanic)
  • NSW Fair Trading - Tradesperson Certificate
  • Previous experience in mechanical repair of heavy plant, trucks and equipment
  • Previous experience in driving heavy rigid trucks
  • Class HR driver licence
  • WHS General Induction for Construction Work Certificate
  • Experience in reading mechanical schematics
  • Experience in investigating and diagnosing hydraulic problems and reading circuitry schematics

Desirable:

  • Class HR Non Syncro Licence
  • Experience in the repair of Hydraulic hoses and equipment
  • Other trades certificates in plant and truck repair works
  • Other relevant certificates and qualifications including forklift, crane, confined spaces, rigging/dogging and RMS vehicle inspections
    Previous experience in tyre fitting and repairs
  • Welding Skills
  • Previous experience in administrative tasks such as time keeping, keeping records and ordering parts and services
  • Working from Heights
  • Experience in roadside breakdown repairs
  • Interpersonal and communication skills for working with and motivating a team
  • Experience in using broad range of equipment including, but not limited to gas monitors and detectors
