The opportunity
Federation Council are offering exciting opportunity for you to join our supportive and friendly team, and make a real meaningful difference in the Urana and surrounding communities.
In your new role as Operations Officer, you will operate Council’s plant safely and effectively to support the road maintenance and construction teams with the commitment to developing and maintaining a safe transport and road network.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Providing labour and plant operating skills to construct, maintain and repair Council civil infrastructure;
- Checking and installing roadside furnishings e.g. signs, guideposts, guardrails, fencing etc.;
- Accurately completing documentation associated with plant and equipment operation;
- Traffic Control Management duties as required;
- Ensuring allocated plant performs to expected capacity to allow timely completion of Works Programs;
Ideally you will be someone who can demonstrate the following criteria:
- Hold a current and valid Medium Rigid (MR) Licence.
- Hold certificates of competency to operate a variety of plant such as skid steer, excavator, loader etc.
- Hold a General Construction Induction Certificate (White Card).
- Demonstrated relevant experience working in a construction environment or similar.
- General knowledge of servicing and maintenance of various plant to ensure they are in a clean and operational condition.
- Show initiative in solving problems, improving methods and productivity along with the ability to seek guidance and advice where required.

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award, Council Salary System, policies and conditions of employment. The salary is commencing at $1,120.20 per week plus allowances for uncertified incumbent, and $1,176.90 per week plus allowances for certified incumbent (Certificate III Civil Construction). This is a Grade 7-9 in Council’s Salary System.
