About the role
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Outreach Officer to join our Library Services team. In this key role, you will be responsible for delivering library services to underserved communities, building relationships with local organizations, and ensuring that our resources reach a wide range of users. The Outreach Officer will play an integral part in promoting library services, creating community partnerships, and engaging with individuals to enhance library usage and literacy across our region.
You can also expect to:
- Promote library services to traditionally underserved community groups including disadvantaged people, ethnically diverse people, older adults, new and non-adult readers, incarcerated people and ex-offenders, people with disabilities, LGBTQ+ identifying people, and isolated communities.
- Have strong communication and collaboration skills to help reach new groups and work with various organisations
- Deliver outstanding customer service to the library community, including at the branch libraries and via the Home Library Service.
- Coordinate the Home Library Service particularly in supporting Home Library customers to learn new skills that assist with accessing library services and introducing new library services to the Home Library Service.
- Deliver a range of programs and services that meet community needs, promote the library, improve literacy skills, and encourage a love of reading both within the libraries and in the broader community such as through pop-up events.
- Support partnerships with outside groups to enhance services and programs delivered to the community.
- Effectively collaborate with community groups, key stakeholders, Council, and library staff to deliver programs to the community.
- Maintain and record daily statistical data for the services and programs as required for Library reporting and reviewing of the service.
- Work rostered customer service shifts which includes providing customers with assistance to use technology, readers advisory, and requests for information
- Work in collaboration with and assist the team, Manager, and other key stakeholders to achieve business unit goals, work requests, demands and Council priorities.
About you
We are looking for a someone who has:
- TAFE Diploma (AQF) in Library & Information Services.
- Demonstrated experience in providing exceptional customer service within a busy and dynamic environment
- Excellent communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to engage people of all walks of life and/or isolated groups within the community
- Knowledge and experience in using IT devices and applications including but not limited to PCs, tablets, printers, and Microsoft application s
- A current Working with Children Check.
- Current Driver's Licence Class C
- Willingness to travel across the Bayside LGA
- Current First Aid certificate relevant to the role or willingness to obtain.
