  • Base annual rate of $66,910.63 - $79,964.83 + 11.5% Superannuation
  • 35 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday, with a rostered Saturday shift every 8 to 10 weeks.

Your Position:

As the Outreach Services Officer, you will choose and deliver items to housebound residents of Burwood so they are able to access library resources in their own homes and in residential care facilities. Your passion for engaging with people and reaching those in our community that are isolated will drive the delivery of an impactful service.

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Delivering a high quality Home Library Service.
  • Establishing, developing, and maintaining collaborative relationships with organisations, businesses and community groups to raise awareness of, and expand access to, the HLS.
  • Managing the suggestions for purchase and reservation list of library resources.
  • Collaborating within the Library and Community Hub team to ensure delivery of high-quality customer experiences through outstanding customer service, information and advice regarding the Burwood Library and Community Hub services, programs, activities and events.
  • Participating in the customer service roster, including evening and weekend work as required.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Library Technician qualification recognised by ALIA and minimum two years relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of an Outreach Service.
  • Demonstrated broad knowledge of popular authors, titles and genres of fiction and non-fiction.
  • Awareness and understanding of issues associated with services for people with special needs including the elderly and people with disabilities.

Key Requirements:

  • Current and valid Working With Children Check.
  • NSW Driver’s Licence (Class C).
  • National Criminal Record Check (NCRC) – Burwood Council will arrange for the recommended candidate.
  • First Aid Certificate or the willingness to obtain one at own expense.
  • Willingness to complete a pre-employment health assessment.
  • Covid-19 vaccination (minimum 2 doses).
