The Opportunity

As a Parking Information Officer in the City of Perth, you will play a key role in improving parking amenities, safety, and accessibility for residents, ratepayers, and visitors. The position requires conducting routine patrols and maintaining a visible presence in the community while delivering high-quality customer service aligned with Council’s core values. Responsibilities include monitoring paid parking areas, commercial loading zones, residential parking areas, ACROD bays, Council car parks, and event parking locations, as per assigned rosters.

Reporting to the Team Leader within our Parking Operations team, your responsibilities would primarily include:

  • Provide enthusiastic, efficient, and effective attention to customer requests in alignment with the City’s Customer Service Charter;
  • Report irregularities, including faulty or vandalised parking meters, damaged signposting, and other Council asset issues;
  • Make informed technical and operational decisions regarding legislation and regulations, balancing community education and enforcement; and
  • Achieve qualitative performance targets related to enforcing local parking laws

About You

To succeed in this role, you will possess:

  • Excellent verbal communication skills including the ability to provide a high standard of customer service and deal with sensitive issues in a tactful manner;
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with strong conflict resolution skills and ability to deal with difficult customers;
  • Demonstrated strong team work ethic including the ability to work with minimum direct supervision; and
  • Ability to observe details, record information in an accurate and legible manner.

Eligibility

To be eligible to work for us, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Fitness for work via a pre-employment medical;
  • A current ‘C’ class Australian drivers licence; and
  • A satisfactory National Police Clearance (dated within 3 months).
