Passive Turf Management Supervisor

Full-time (average of 38 hours per week)

Responsible for internal work teams and external contractors, this position requires a strong leader to lead and supervise a committed team while promoting a safety first culture, while you will ensure a proactive, high quality and cost effective turf management service is provided across the City’s public open spaces. 

You are a self-motivated go-getter who is able to provide expert advice and strategic direction to the organisation and contractors ensure high quality and cost effective techniques are implemented and maintained. Focussed on meeting, or possibly exceeding, our community’s expectations for pristine parks and reserves, you have comprehensive knowledge and experience of contemporary turf management practices including, fertiliser/herbicide selection and application, turf renovation techniques and works scheduling.  You thrive in a team environment and are looking to build on your current experience and further develop your career.

You possess well-developed interpersonal skills and are comfortable communicating across all levels of the organisation and the community it serves.  Experienced in staff supervision and development, contractor management and safety and health legislation you will hold a qualification in Turf Management, or demonstrated learned knowledge through substantial experience, along with a current ‘C’ class driver’s licence and Construction Induction Training (White Card).

To be considered for this role, you must address the following selection criteria as part of your online application:

• Advanced knowledge of turf management and public open space maintenance
• Comprehensive knowledge in the preparation and implementation of cyclical maintenance schedules
• Strong written and interpersonal skills, particularly verbal communication
• Intermediate level of computer literacy skills
• Strong supervisory skills in relation to WHS monitoring
• Extensive demonstrated experience in the supervising operational maintenance requirements of all turf and public open space functions including in house field staff and contractors
• Experience in human resource management inclusive of performance management of underperforming employees
• Certificate IV in Turf Management or demonstrated learned knowledge through substantial experience working within the commercial turf management field

We are offering a gross cash salary of $95,325 per annum, and:

• 11.5% superannuation with the option to co-contribute up to a further 5%
