ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
City Assets and Construction unit focuses on preparing long term asset renewal plans through economical extension of asset lives. The unit also delivers construction works across all asset classes and this includes renewal works and new build.
In contributing to the overarching vision, the Pavement Engineer will assist in the development and management of asset management strategies for Council’s road assets that includes road pavement, bridges, stormwater, footpaths, kerb and gutter, traffic facilities, street lighting and road furniture.
The successful applicant will require:
- Degree in Civil Engineering accepted by the Institution of Engineers, Australia.
- A minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience in the pavement investigation, evaluation and design of long - term, cost effective treatments.
- Proven experience in road asset construction specifications and construction methods.
- Experience in the planning and development of capital works programs.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare detailed estimates of quantities and costs for Road construction and maintenance works.
- Demonstrated experience in pavement management system and methodologies.
- Proven computer skills in CAD, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook.
- Able to demonstrate good open communication skills both written and oral.
- Able to demonstrate a clear and sound knowledge of the WHS Act 2011, and EEO principles.
- Current General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
- Current Class C drivers licence.

About this role:
- Permanent, full-time position
- 70 hour fortnight
- Access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO) arrangement
- Located at Council's Auburn Depot, with occasional travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations
Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- Grade 13 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $2,040.15 to $2,346.17 per week, plus 11.5% superannuation
- The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role
