We deliver 29 key services such as childcare, waste collection, parks maintenance, libraries, community facilities and aquatic centres to over 370,000 residents.

 

The role

CBCity is seeking a Payroll Officer to join our team. In this role you will be supporting and assisting with Council's payroll operations in compliance with the Local Government Act, relevant industrial instruments and regulations, Council's delegation of authority, and current organisational policies and procedures.

 

This is a Full-Time Temporary opportunity available until May 2026.

 

 

Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Accurately process timesheets and data entry. 
  • Handle calculations for higher grades, back pay, and tax adjustments. 
  • Monitor leave balances and process related forms and certificates. 
  • Process leave applications, including advance payments. 
  • Coordinate with Risk Management on workers' compensation claims and payments. 
  • Maintain employee master file data (e.g., addresses, bank details, deductions, allowances, pay rates). 
  • Set up new employee records and verify personnel file details. 
  • Review payroll exception reports for accuracy. 
  • Distribute payslips and communicate with managers about sick leave requirements. 
  • Prepare and analyse leave without pay reports. 
  • Manage and distribute master timesheets across departments. 
  • Provide employment verification and earnings statements as requested. 
  • Respond to payroll and personnel inquiries with professionalism and customer focus. 
  • Maintain and file personnel records. 
  • Ensure compliance with industrial awards and council policies for accurate record-keeping.

You will have

  • Proven experience in managing end to end payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations. 
  • Proficiency in using payroll systems, document management tools, and Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Understanding of general accounting principles to support accurate payroll calculations and reporting. 
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan, prioritise, and manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Strong ability to work under pressure and consistently meet tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail. 

 

 

Experience with the SAP HR and SAP CATS modules is highly regarded, though not essential.

 

 

The salary range for this opportunity starts at $75,011 (Grade E, Step1) + 11.5% super. Salary is negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
