Join Tweed Shire Council as a Plumber and play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing community facilities. You’ll use your expertise in plumbing, drainage, gasfitting, and irrigation to install, repair, and maintain Council’s amenities, park facilities, sportsgrounds, and buildings. With a minimum of six years’ experience, including a trade apprenticeship, you’ll apply your technical knowledge to ensure all work meets Australian Standards. This role offers variety, collaboration with different teams, and the opportunity to work with progressive electronic plumbing fixtures. A Tool Allowance may apply. About the role:

  • Install, repair, and maintain plumbing, drainage, gasfitting, and irrigation systems across Council’s amenities, parks, sportsgrounds, and buildings.
  • Ensure all work complies with Australian Standards and industry regulations, using the latest electronic plumbing fixtures and fittings.
  • Collaborate with Council teams to support new projects and ongoing maintenance in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Maintain a strong focus on workplace safety, environmental responsibility, and team participation.

We are seeking:

  •  A licensed contractor qualified in plumbing, drainage, water connection, and roofing.
  • A skilled tradesperson with at least six years' practical experience, including a trade apprenticeship.
  • Certification to install and certify backflow prevention devices and thermostatic mixing valves.
  • Strong technical knowledge, including compliance with industry codes, OHS regulations, and workplace safety standards.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills, with the ability to handle public enquiries and work both independently and collaboratively.

Where it's located:

This position is based in Murwillumbah, and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
