Aquatic Centres

Bayside Council currently operates two Aquatic Centres, Angelo Anestis Aquatic Centre (Bexley) and Botany Aquatic Centre (Botany). Angelo Anestis Aquatic Centre is a modern facility that includes an indoor and outdoor pool, grandstand, gym and group fitness spaces, kiosk, and aqua play facilities. Botany Aquatic is a seasonal operation (Sept - April) with 50m,22m and toddler outdoor heated pools, picnic, and function facilities. Botany Aquatic will close at the end of April 2024 to undergo a major redevelopment.

About the role

Pool Lifeguard Attendant primary purpose is to provide proactive supervision of all aquatic areas ensuring patron safety, first aid, emergency incident response procedures and efficient operations of the Centres while delivering value for all stakeholders and community in an ethical, social, and environmentally responsible manner.  You have the option to work at one or both of our centres. You can also expect to:

  • Provide a high level of customer service to assist in ensuring patrons comply with the Centre’s conditions of use and entry requirements.
  • Promote the positive and collaborative culture and values of the organisation through open, fair, and transparent decision making and ethical, professional behaviour.
  • Work in collaboration with and assist the team, Manager, and other key stakeholders to achieve business unit goals, work requests, demands and Council priorities.
  • Ensure potential safety issues which may cause injury or illness to staff or patrons are addressed or reported immediately.
  • Proactively monitor the use of facilities by public and sporting groups in accordance with the Centre's policies and procedures.
  • Ensure Child Safe Practices and procedures are implemented and complied with to mitigate risks.
  • Report all incidents and hazards in line with operational and reporting procedures, and undertake priority action to notify, warn patrons and eliminate further hazards and risk of harm as soon as possible.
  • Actively contribute to the review of policies and procedures to maintain regulatory compliance.

About you

We are looking for an industrious individual with the following:

  • Current Pool Lifeguard Qualifications recognised in NSW
  • Current Senior First Aid and CPR Certificate including Advanced Resuscitation
  • Current Working with Children Check (NSW).
  • Hours of work between 5am to 9.30pm Monday to Sunday. However, commencing and finishing times will be flexible and depend on operational needs of each of the centres.

Salary range: $30.78 to $34.47 per hour plus 25% casual loading, plus 11.5% superannuation.
