Description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Primary Prevention Project Manager to support NSW councils implement primary prevention of domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV) strategies and deliver activities assigned to LGNSW in the Action Plan to the NSW Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Primary Prevention Strategy.

About LGNSW

Local Government NSW (LGNSW) is the peak body for councils and related organisations in our State. LGNSW advocates on behalf of members and their communities on policy to decision makers at state and federal levels. We also provide a comprehensive range of services including industrial relations representation, management services and training.

About the role

Reporting to the Strategy Manager, Social and Community, the Primary Prevention Project Manager will join the Social and Community team within the Advocacy Division. This role will:

  • Coordinate and manage the implementation of local government DFSV prevention initiatives in accordance with Action Plan.
  • Collaborate and support councils to implement primary prevention projects.
  • Establish and maintain a DFSV Primary Prevention network of council staff across NSW.
  • Build the primary prevention capacity of local government and work collaboratively with stakeholders.
  • Scope and deliver new projects and initiatives to support councils in DFSV primary prevention in accordance with the funding agreement.
  • Prepare regular project reports and promote project achievements.
  • Provide input and advice to the Strategy’s Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning framework.

The salary for this role on commencement is approximately $143,478 (including superannuation).

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have in-depth knowledge of DFSV primary prevention issues to address emerging challenges. You will have well-refined verbal and written communications skills including the demonstrated ability to network within the community services sector. You will be positive, results-driven and understand the importance of good public policy.

Essential requirements

  • Degree in relevant discipline, or demonstrated knowledge and experience in social and community policy.
  • High-level communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and initiatives in relation to DFSV primary prevention.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including project development and design, implementation, reporting and evaluation to deliver project deadlines, within budget and to an agreed standard.
  • Excellent skills and experience in advocacy, consultation, facilitation and capacity building projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with others across the organisation and with external stakeholders.
  • General knowledge of council practices and policies.
  • Ability to occasionally travel as required.
