Are you passionate about all things Rates? Do you have experience leading a team? We want to hear from you! The Hills Shire Council is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Principal Coordinator - Rates. The role manages the Rates Team to ensure proper discharge of all rating functions in accordance with Local Government Act, Local Government (General) Regulations, Code of Accounting Practice and Reporting and Council’s policies and procedures. The suitable candidate for this role will also manage, develop & implement policies and systems for the efficient & effective rating operations and be involved in special projects as required.
What this role looks like:
• Accountable to develop, review and implement Council’s rating structure including rates modelling to ensure correct application to optimise rates income and an equitable distribution of the levy in accordance with the Act, Regulations and Council Statement of Revenue Policy.
• Oversee the levying and collection of rates and annual charges in accordance with Council's Operational Plan and Policies.
• Oversee the preparation, monitoring the accuracy and timeliness, of the Annual Rates & Charges notices and quarterly instalment notices.
• Monitor the accuracy and timeliness of all rates related functions such as change in category and rateability, Section 603 certificates; Pensioner Rebates, Notice of sales etc.
• Maintain team engagement, provide coaching and mentoring as well as manage the team’s performance targets.
What are we seeking in our new team member:
Essential
• Drivers Licence (Class C) - NSW
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Accounting or related field or an equivalent combination of knowledge and experience
• Member of NSW Revenue Professionals or Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants or The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia
