The role & you
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Principal Water Planning and Assets Engineer to join our Infrastructure and Engineering Services Division. This role offers an exciting opportunity to manage and contribute to major water and sewer projects, collaborate with various teams, and provide strategic leadership in water and sewer infrastructure planning, asset management, and development.
You will be responsible for planning and managing water and sewer projects and ensuring the delivery of high quality infrastructure solutions that meet industry standards. Your role will also involve providing technical expertise, undertaking engineering investigations, assisting with assessment of large scale developments, and contributing to the long-term strategic planning and asset management processes for the water and sewer systems.
Candidates will have a Bachelor Degree level qualification in Engineering or a similar discipline that is relevant to the role. Additionally, a Diploma level qualification in Project Management or Asset Management, or relevant experience in these areas, will be highly regarded.
The role requires strong verbal and written communication, along with good time management and organisational skills. Leadership qualifications or training are a plus, as the ability to lead teams and projects is important. Candidates should also have strong problem solving skills and be able to identify and make improvements to procedures, operational practices, and water and sewer infrastructure. The focus is on finding effective, long term solutions that are both practical and sustainable.

Salary: Base salary $105,000 p.a. - $116,000 p.a. (commencing salary will be negotiated with the successful candidate depending on qualifications, skills and experience)
- Civil Liability Allowance (3.5% of base salary)
- Superannuation (11%)
- Leaseback vehicle agreement
Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.
Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.
